From 12 to 14 September The Sant'Anna School of Advanced Studies organizes the 6th Edition of the workshop "CRAS" (Joint Workshop on New Technologies for Computer/Robot Assisted Surgery).

The workshop is one of the most important events in Europe for assistive surgical robotic technologies. The aim is to offer a broad vision on the development of new technologies in the field of robotic surgery and to propose concrete actions to improve research and innovation.

The management of the event is entrusted to the Institute of Robotics of the Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies. The program addresses the key themes of robotic surgery, such as microsurgery, robotic endoscopy, surgical navigation.

The speakers will be:

  • Paolo Dario, Director of The Biorobotics Institute
  • Franca Melfi, one of the first surgeons in Italy to have experienced the robotic technology in surgery
  • Brian Davies, Emeritus Professor at Imperial College London
  • Joel W. Burdick, Professor of Mechanical Engineering and Bioengineering at Caltech (California Institute of Technology)
  • Michel Brochard, Project Officer of European Commission

On 12 September, during the workshop, there will be the presentation of the best contributions made by students of the 1st Summer School on Control of Surgical Robots (COSUR 2016).

On the last day of the workshop the Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies organizes the first European meeting on Da Vinci Research Kit (development platform on systems of robotic surgery).
